After Acupuncture Treatment Care
What Should I Do After My Appointment?
In a perfect world you would rest for the day, but this isn’t reasonable for everyone. Definitely avoid strenuous exercise, limit caffeine and alcohol. Eat healthy, and nourishing foods. Avoid starchy, heavy and greasy or processed foods.
There is a chance that you might notice some bruising, itchiness or soreness at the site of some of the needles and that is totally normal.
What Can Chinese Medicine Do For Me?
Sometimes we have something that is acute and needs to be treated immediately, it can be used in this way, kind of like a band aid. But where Chinese Medicine really shines is on finding the root of issues, which takes more time. It is like layers of an onion, as we peel off the first layer, what is underneath begins to show through. This takes time and consistency, it is important to follow the treatment plan to enjoy the results.
When Will It Start To Work?
Each patient is different. Acupuncture is a process and works best with frequent treatments, each one building on the one before. Generally the more acute the condition, the faster it can respond to treatment. Sometimes 1 to 3 treatments is all that is needed. The more chronic the condition, the more treatments it will take to get the desired results. As your practitioner, I will work with you to create a treatment plan tailored to your specific health goals.
What Are Signs That I Am Making Progress?

How Often Should I Come?
It depends on if we’re doing a band-aid, or really fixing the problem, but generally we start acupuncture patients out at a 1-2 times per week, and then start weaning you off of that schedule as soon as we are seeing some real changes.
